Teguise Organizes a Visit to FEAGA: Bridging the Gap Between Citizens and the Primary Sector

The Ayuntamiento of Teguise is taking significant steps to connect the community with the primary sector through an organized trip to the esteemed Feria de Agricultura, Ganadería y Pesca de Fuerteventura (FEAGA). Scheduled for April 16-19 at the Granja Experimental de Pozo Negro in Fuerteventura, this event is crucial for acknowledging and promoting agricultural, livestock, and fishing initiatives in the Canary Islands.

A Day to Remember at FEAGA

On Saturday, April 18, participants will embark on their journey at 07:30 from the Ayuntamiento of Teguise, returning via boat at 19:00. This carefully planned day opens the doors to a range of engaging activities, exhibitions, and demonstrations all centered around the vital primary sector. Attendees will have the chance to witness firsthand the hard work of farmers, ranchers, and fishermen, gaining a deeper understanding of the processes that sustain local communities.

Commitment to the Primary Sector

Emphasizing the significance of FEAGA, Olivia Duque, the Mayor of Teguise, stated, “FEAGA is an essential event for understanding the efforts of our farmers, livestock breeders, and fishermen—an industry that is critical to our identity and the future of our islands.” Her remarks highlight the fair’s role in not just showcasing local produce, but also in fostering appreciation for those who work tirelessly behind the scenes.

Myriam Jorge, the Councilor for Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, added that this initiative gives citizens access to an event that is a benchmark for the Canary Islands, enhancing community ties to vital sectors of the economy. The excursion serves as an opportunity for residents to actively engage with agriculture, livestock, and fishing, thus strengthening their connection to these foundational industries.

Strengthening Local Agricultural Events

This excursion is part of a broader municipal strategy aimed at bolstering the primary sector in Teguise. The Ayuntamiento has also been hard at work organizing the Feria de Agricultura, Ganadería y Pesca in Teguise, held at the Agrotechnological Center. This event is designed to celebrate local produce and the hard work of farmers, ranchers, and fishermen alike.

Upcoming announcements regarding a new edition of this local fair promise to further solidify its place as a vital marketplace and celebration of local agricultural output. As Teguise continues to invest in agricultural and fishing initiatives, the community can look forward to greater recognition and appreciation of these essential sectors.
