This weekend, the stunning Playa de La Concha in El Cotillo will once again transform into a vibrant cultural hub as it hosts the much-anticipated Fuerteventura en Música (FEM). Now in its 20th edition, this festival has solidified its reputation as one of the most significant cultural events in the Canary Islands, attracting both locals and visitors alike.
A Visit to The Preparations
In the lead-up to the festival, attendees were treated to a glimpse of the final preparations. Lola García, the president of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, visited the site alongside various officials, including Rayco León, the insular Culture Counselor, and Juan José Rodríguez, the Councilman of Economics from the La Oliva Town Hall. The gathering also featured prominent figures from the local arts scene, such as the FEM 2026 presenter Pilar López, artist Ayla Rodríguez from the Arife project, and members of the Chocolate Sexy band.
During her visit, President García emphasized the festival’s cultural importance, stating, “Everything is set for Fuerteventura to enjoy one of the most beloved cultural events in our island and in the whole of the Canary Islands.” She noted how the FEM has continued to evolve while maintaining its core essence, serving as a vibrant meeting point for diverse cultures through music in an unparalleled setting like Playa de La Concha.

Rayco León took the opportunity to highlight the festival’s commitment to showcasing a rich array of musical styles and international artists. “The FEM once again gathers artists from different countries and musical genres, featuring a program that prioritizes quality, diversity, and local talent,” he remarked. The Festival Lineup
The excitement continues with a stellar lineup set to grace the stage. On Friday, July 3, attendees will enjoy performances by Marta Umpiérrez, Chanela Clicka, La Sra. Tomasa, Femi Kuti & The Positive Force, and Eskorzo, with DJ Woodhands spinning tracks between sets to keep energy levels high.
Saturday, July 4, features a compelling mix of talent, including Arife, Queralt Lahoz, Kumbia Boruka, Antonio Carmona, and Pongo. Once again, DJ Woodhands will return to close the day with a powerful auditory experience.
FEM de Día: A Community Celebration
In addition to the nightly performances, the festival expands its reach with FEM de Día. Organized by Cotillo Joven, this initiative fills the streets and public spaces of El Cotillo with workshops and artistic performances throughout the day. Participants can look forward to engaging with artists and groups like Papaya Subtropical, Naby Zana Band, Hey Chabón, Chocolate Sexy, and the Association of African Percussion of Fuerteventura, along with the exuberant rhythms of the batucada Corumba.
