Celebrating Craftsmanship at the 36th Insular Craft Fair of Antigua
This past Thursday, the vibrant town of Antigua came alive as key figures in the local government and artisanal community gathered to inaugurate the 36th Insular Craft Fair. The ceremony, marked by a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, was attended by the majorera president, Lola García, the town’s mayor, Matías Peña, the island councilor for craftsmanship, Lolina Negrín, and the president of the Mafasca Collective Foundation, Nereida Brito. Their collective presence underscored the importance of craftsmanship in local culture and the community’s support for artisans.
A Showcase of Craftsmanship and Creativity
The fair features nearly 200 artisans from across the Canary Islands, each showcasing their unique crafts across over 30 different trades. The fair’s epicenter is the charming plaza by the church, where attendees can immerse themselves in a rich display of creativity and craftsmanship.
