Celebrating Diversity: Launch of Jandía Pride 2025 in Morro Jable

The vibrant town of Morro Jable has recently ignited its colorful spirit with the announcement of Jandía Pride 2025, a celebration that promises to be one of the most dynamic and inclusive events in the municipality of Pájara. The lively atmosphere of the Fishermen’s Square served as the perfect backdrop for this joyous occasion, which aims to honor and uplift the LGBTQ+ community in all its diversity.

A Warm Welcome from Local Leaders

The event kicked off with the heartfelt remarks from Raquel Acosta, the local councilor of Culture. Acosta took the opportunity to express her gratitude to the Sociocultural and Sports Association Faro de Jandía, whose tireless efforts have made this yearly festival a reality. “This festival celebrates diversity, freedom, and love in all its forms,” Acosta stated, setting a positive tone for the festivities ahead.

Following her, the mayor of Pájara, Alejandro Jorge, highlighted the significant progress made in the respect and recognition of LGBTQ+ rights over the years. He reflected on how far society has come from times when individuals faced criminalization due to their sexual orientation or identity. His words resonated with many attendees, serving as a reminder of the ongoing journey toward equality.

Emphasizing Tolerance and Inclusion

Victor Alonso, the island’s insular councilor of Social Welfare, took the stage to reinforce the core values underpinning Jandía Pride—tolerance, diversity, and equality. He reiterated the commitment of the Fuerteventura Cabildo to fostering an inclusive environment for everyone. Alonso’s message was clear: the community stands united in its pursuit of acceptance and respect.

Carla Soto, representing Altihay Fuerteventura, followed suit by thanking the municipality for its support. She emphasized the ongoing struggle for rights faced by the LGBTQ+ community, especially concerning pressing issues such as “conversion therapies” and access restrictions faced by transgender individuals in public spaces. Soto’s comments reminded everyone of the importance of continuously advocating for equality and justice.

As the excitement built, Juanjo Martínez took charge of unveiling the much-anticipated schedule of activities lined up for Jandía Pride 2025. The festivities promise an engaging mix of fun, culture, and celebration:
