New Tourist Villas in Caleta de Fuste: A Boost for Antigua’s Economy
On a recent Thursday, the Governing Board of the Municipality of Antigua made an exciting announcement: the approval of a new project that promises to enhance the region’s tourism infrastructure significantly. This initiative, presented by Anjoca Canarias, involves an estimated private investment of around 10 million euros aimed at constructing 58 luxury villas in the popular tourist destination of Caleta de Fuste.
Revitalizing Caleta de Fuste
This development marks a vital step in the ongoing efforts to modernize and improve the competitiveness of Caleta de Fuste as a tourist hotspot. The planned villas will be built on a plot of land that previously housed the offices of the Anjoca Canarias company, transforming a once-utilitarian space into high-end accommodation options that cater to modern visitors.
Part of this project falls under the ambit of the second Plan for Modernization, Improvement, and Increase of Tourist Competitiveness in Caleta de Fuste. This overarching strategic framework is designed to reinvigorate tourism in the area, ensuring that it remains attractive to both national and international travelers.
Commitment to Green Spaces
One of the most noteworthy elements of the project is its commitment to incorporating green spaces. According to Antigua Mayor Matías Peña García, the plan mandates the development of a significant green area spanning approximately 26,000 square meters. This zone will not only add aesthetic charm but will also serve practical purposes for residents and visitors alike.
The green space is set to feature a variety of amenities that cater to families and active individuals. It will include a children’s playground, shaded areas for relaxation, functional training spaces, and public furniture. By creating these features, the project aims to offer diverse recreational opportunities, bolstering community interaction and engagement.
Connecting Communities
Mayor Peña Garcia emphasized the importance of linking this new development with existing local infrastructure. The project will incorporate a pedestrian or vehicular pathway that connects the new villas to the residential area of Montecastillo. This intended connection will foster a sense of community and make it easier for residents and visitors to access different parts of Caleta de Fuste.
By integrating these spaces, the initiative seeks not only to appeal to tourists but also to enhance the quality of life for locals. The design aims to create a harmonious environment where both residents and visitors can enjoy the best that Caleta de Fuste has to offer.
Acknowledging Team Efforts
Recognizing that the success of such ambitious projects does not happen by chance, Mayor Peña Garcia applauded the dedication of the municipal technical team. Their meticulous planning and professional expertise have played essential roles in bringing this project to fruition. The Mayor reaffirmed that this success reflects the hard work and commitment to improving the local tourism landscape.
A Unique Position in Fuerteventura
The Municipality of Antigua has distinguished itself on the island of Fuerteventura by being the only one awarded a recent Tourist Modernization Plan approved by the Government of the Canary Islands. This plan aims to give a considerable boost to the restoration and modernization of tourist infrastructures in Caleta de Fuste. Covering an estimated area of 50,000 square meters, this initiative is set to transform the landscape and functionality of the region.
Through this focus on modernization and investment, Antigua is positioning itself as a competitive player in the tourism sector, appealing to those seeking comfort, luxury, and natural beauty when visiting Fuerteventura.
