The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has expressed its congratulations to several educational institutions that have excelled at the regional level during the ninth edition of the educational film festival, Cinedfest. The awards were first presented at the Insular Auditorium of Fuerteventura, and later in Tenerife for the Canary Islands section. Notable winners include IES Corralejo, IES Puerto Cabras-Rafael Báez, and CEIP Valles de Ortega.
Specifically, IES Corralejo received the second prize in the ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ category for their short film Por ti, sí nos mojamos. Meanwhile, IES Puerto Cabras-Rafael Báez bagged the ‘Social Theme’ award for their film Nautae, which also clinched the title of Best Short Film from Fuerteventura at Cinedfest.

In addition to film accolades, Fuerteventura has shone in the acting department as well. Imran Koné, a student from IES Puerto Cabras-Rafael Báez, was recognized as the best secondary actor across all of the Canary Islands.
Moreover, CEIP Valles de Ortega also garnered attention by winning the award for Best Comedy Short in the Canary Islands for ¡El profe ha desaparecido!.
The President of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola García, along with the counselor of Fuerteventura Film Commission, Nereida Calero, expressed their gratitude to the fifteen educational institutions from the island that participated and contributed to making this edition of Cinedfest a record-breaking event. A remarkable tally of 400 students engaged with audiovisual language to create their projects, competing against over 500 short films from across the archipelago.
