The National Police Brings IDs and Passports Closer to Fuerteventura Municipalities with the Launch of the Comprehensive Documentation Vehicle VIDOC

The National Police have recently introduced the new VIDOC (Integral Documentation Vehicle) unit in Fuerteventura, marking a significant leap toward modernizing the process of issuing National Identity Cards (DNI) and Passports in localities that lack a fixed documentation unit.

Designed as a mobile solution, VIDOC streamlines the issuance process by incorporating all the technical resources found in a conventional office. This includes complete issuance stations, biometric data capture devices, printing equipment, and a Document Update Point. Such comprehensive facilities enable citizens to manage their documentation needs in one visit.

One of the most remarkable features of the VIDOC is its capability to provide immediate documentation issuance. Citizens can now receive their DNI or Passport right away, eliminating the need for multiple visits that previously required initial data capture, document preparation at a police facility, and a final pick-up. This leap in efficiency translates into a more convenient experience for residents, especially in municipalities where documentation offices are absent.

The implementation of the VIDOC replaces an outdated three-phase process with a more agile system that significantly reduces waiting times and enhances service capacity. As a result, residents in remote areas will benefit from easier access to crucial services, sparing them from long trips to complete essential documentation.

The VIDOC will alternate between the islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, further improving territorial coverage and ensuring that documentation services are more efficient and accessible across various localities. With this addition, the National Police is reinforcing its commitment to modernize document management while facilitating citizens’ access to official programs without the burden of long commutes.

This initiative is part of a broader project aimed at technological adaptation orchestrated by the General Directorate of the Police. It complements existing advancements, such as the Express DNI service, Document Update Points (PADS), and the MIDNI mobile application, all of which enhance the convenience of managing one’s documentation. The concerted efforts in the modernization campaign signify a proactive approach to meeting the public’s needs and solidifying efficient governance across the islands.
