Puerto del Rosario Launches Consultation to Define Night Taxi Services Until 2026
PUERTO DEL ROSARIO, FUERTEVENTURA – March 7. (Taxi News) – The City Council of Puerto del Rosario has initiated a consultation process with the taxi sector aimed at defining the service quadrant that will govern activities within the municipality until December 31, 2026. This move is designed to ensure coverage in the city during night hours.
The decision emerged during an extraordinary meeting of the Taxi Board, attended by representatives from the sector and municipal officials. This action comes after years marked by partial non-compliance with public service conditions.
As an immediate measure, it was decided to maintain the quadrant applied in December throughout March. This setup establishes mandatory city and night shifts, while allowing remaining shifts to be optional. During the night shift, a minimum of three conventional taxis and one adapted taxi for individuals with reduced mobility (PMR) will be available, ensuring full coverage without any free shifts.
Mayor David de Vera emphasized that the taxi service is an essential public service and its organization must balance the needs of both professionals and users. Meanwhile, Transport Councillor Luis Chacón pointed out that this consultation will allow taxi drivers to participate actively in the definition of the quadrant, optimizing service availability throughout the day.

Consultation and Voting Calendar
Taxi professionals will have the opportunity to submit their proposals for the quadrant until March 9 at 00:00 hours via the transportation department’s email. A technical evaluation of the proposals will be conducted on March 12, and those that meet legal criteria will be published on the official website.
The provisional voter registry will be announced on March 13, with any issues addressed by March 17, and the final registry published on March 18. Voting will take place on March 18 from 17:00 to 19:00 hours in the City Council chamber, with results made public the following day on the municipal website.
The quadrant resulting from this process will remain in effect until the end of 2026, ensuring a more efficient and participatory organization of the taxi service.
