Celebrating Excellence in Tourism: Fuerteventura’s 2025 Awards
On July 25, 2025, the Cabildo of Fuerteventura revealed the verdict of the jury for the prestigious Premios Distinguidos del Turismo (Distinguished Tourism Awards) set to take place on September 27. This annual recognition celebrates the remarkable contributions of individuals and companies to the island’s tourism sector, highlighting their commitment to excellence and sustainability.

The Playas de Oro awards are integral to Fuerteventura’s tourism appreciation, recognizing outstanding achievements across various categories. This year’s awards highlight innovators in the industry who not only foster tourism but also embrace the island’s rich cultural heritage.
Honoring Local Businesses

Bodegas Conatvs: The award for the ‘Empresa’ category was awarded to Bodegas Conatvs, a vineyard owned by Pedro Martín in Lajares. Known for being the first winery in Fuerteventura to achieve Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) status, Bodegas Conatvs stands out for its role in promoting rural tourism and sustainable practices. The vineyard offers visitors an authentic taste of Fuerteventura’s unique terroir, significantly contributing to the interior tourism experience.

La Jaula de Oro: In the ‘Trayectoria Individual’ category, María del Pino Alonso Brito received recognition for her 27-year tenure as the manager of La Jaula de Oro, a family-run restaurant located in the picturesque village of Ajuy. Established in the 1950s, this beloved establishment has served as a gathering place for both locals and visitors, garnering a reputation that reflects Fuerteventura’s culinary heritage.
Recognizing Commitment to Sustainability
The Group Catamarán Excursión earned the ‘Destino Azul’ award for its exceptional contributions to maritime tourism. Since its establishment in 2013 in Antigua, the group has implemented innovative practices that enhance the sustainability of ocean activities on the island. Their commitment to protecting marine environments while providing memorable experiences has made them a leader in nautical tourism in Fuerteventura.

Long-standing Loyalty: The ‘Cliente’ Award
The Cliente award went to Holger Ziechert, who has shown unwavering loyalty to Fuerteventura for over 48 years. First visiting in 1977, Holger has returned more than 150 times, becoming a cherished ambassador for the island. His stories and experiences, encapsulated in his two books, have helped promote Fuerteventura on an international scale.
