Betancuria, a picturesque village nestled in the heart of Fuerteventura, has recently garnered attention for its commitment to preserving its rich cultural heritage. The Patronato de Turismo de Fuerteventura, under the leadership of Tourism Councillor Marlene Figueroa, in collaboration with Betancuria’s Mayor Enrique Cerdeña, has taken a pivotal step by signing a grant aimed at supporting tourism-related heritage conservation efforts. Recognized as “one of the most beautiful villages in Spain,” Betancuria is epitomizing both charm and heritage significance.

During a recent announcement, Councillor Figueroa emphasized the ongoing strategy of the Patronato to enhance municipal events that hold significant tourism projection outside of the island. This initiative not only bolsters local culture but also invites visitors from afar to experience the unique allure of the village.

Mayor Cerdeña expressed gratitude for this invaluable support, adding that such efforts will further enhance the village’s rich heritage and promote its appeal as a compelling tourist destination. “We are committed to showcasing Betancuria as a prime location of beauty and history,” he stated, reflecting the sentiments of many who cherish the village’s aesthetic and cultural essence.

In 2026, the support criteria established in the previous year remain unchanged, which is indicative of the community’s sustained commitment to promoting tourism in terms of financial backing. Key events that will draw attention to Betancuria and neighboring towns include the “Pueblos Más Bonitos de España” initiative, Achipencos regatta in Puerto del Rosario, the World Windsurf and Wingfoil Championships in Pájara, Beach Party in Antigua, the San Miguel Jurada Festivals in Tuineje, and the Kite Festival in La Oliva. Each of these events contributes to the promotion of the island’s unique offerings and heritage.

The support is not merely about financial aid; it reflects a broader vision of cultural sustenance and renewal. As visitors flock to Betancuria to enjoy its scenic landscapes and historical architecture, the village stands firm as a beacon of Canarian culture and hospitality. With its winding streets, local artisans, and breathtaking views, it is no wonder that Betancuria continues to shine as a jewel among Spain’s most beautiful towns.
