Canarias Game Show Arrives in Fuerteventura as a Gathering Place for Digital Talent and the Gaming Community

In recent developments within Pájara, Salah Eddine Chehaib, the councilor responsible for New Technologies, has taken a firm stand in advocating for the technological sector. He rebuffed the narrow perspective that sees technology merely as a source of entertainment, emphasizing instead its pivotal role as one of the fastest-growing industries globally. “A weekend can spark vocations,” he stated, “but it is continuous public policies that transform those vocations into real opportunities.” Chehaib passionately advocated for youth in the municipality to not just be consumers of technology but active creators, urging for institutional coordination that transcends political affiliations because, as he put it, “technology knows no political colors.”

Event Objectives

Yeray Sánchez, one of the event organizers, articulated the significance of the occasion by noting that Fuerteventura marks the third stop of the CGS circuit, following successful events in Gran Canaria (Arucas) and La Palma, and culminating in Tenerife. He expressed gratitude for the collaboration between the Cabildo and the Pájara City Council, defining the event as “a meeting place” where participants can “create, compete, and connect.” The core aim of the event is to foster a thriving ecosystem for gaming in the Canary Islands, thus establishing a network capable of attracting businesses and retaining talent within the archipelago.

Event Program

The program promises a vibrant mix of competition, training, and entertainment. Attendees can enjoy a vast area filled with cutting-edge gaming technology, including top-tier hardware like PC Gaming setups, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2, as well as immersive virtual reality experiences. The venue is meticulously organized into nine distinct zones, each designated for different activities such as competitive gaming and video game development.

Competitive gaming is set to take center stage with tournaments featuring popular titles such as Tekken 8, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and FIFA 26. In addition, there will be official competitions for collectible card games like Pokémon, Riftbound, and One Piece Card Game, offering ample opportunities for enthusiasts to demonstrate their skills.

Game Jam Initiative

A standout feature of the event is the Game Jam, which invites multidisciplinary teams to collaboratively develop video game prototypes within a limited timeframe. This initiative aims to recapture the spirit of the classic LAN parties, encouraging creativity, teamwork, and innovative thinking. Participants will experience real-world processes involved in tech creation and development, thus offering a hands-on approach to learning in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.

Through these engaging activities and initiatives, the event strives not only to entertain but also to educate and inspire the next generation of tech innovators in the Canary Islands. As it unfolds, the CGS circuit is set to forge connections, cultivate talents, and expand the horizons of what is possible in the realm of technology and gaming.
