Celebrating Our Lady of Good Journey: Special Transport Service for Festivities in El Cotillo
As the beautiful island of Fuerteventura gears up to honor Nuestra Señora del Buen Viaje, a series of engaging celebrations will take place in El Cotillo from August 12 to August 24, 2025. To ensure residents and visitors can enjoy the festivities safely and conveniently, the Cabildo de Fuerteventura has organized a special public transport service. This initiative aims to facilitate movement across the island during these vibrant festivities.
Special Transport Routes
Coordinated by the Department of Transport in collaboration with the intercity transport company, the special service includes numerous stops in various towns, making it accessible for many. The journey kicks off at the bus station in Puerto del Rosario and traverses through key locations such as La Asomada, Los Estancos, Tetir, La Matilla, Tindaya, La Oliva, Villaverde, Tamaragua, Corralejo, Lajares, and El Roque, ultimately concluding at a preferred stop in El Cotillo. The entire route spans approximately 90 minutes, allowing participants to enjoy picturesque views of the island along the way.
Extended Service Days and Hours
The service will be especially robust on certain days, specifically August 15, 16, 21, 22, and 23, with extended hours to accommodate late-night revelers. During these dates, buses will depart from Puerto del Rosario in the afternoon and make returns in the early hours of the morning, ensuring festival-goers can celebrate without worrying about transport. Notably, Wednesday, August 21, will see additional afternoon departures to coincide with one of the most significant days of the festivities.
Safety Measures in Place
In light of safety concerns, the usual stop located at Plaza de la Ermita will be temporarily inactive throughout the celebrations. Instead, the primary stop in El Cotillo will be fully operational until normal services resume on August 25. This strategic move is aimed at prioritizing the safety of all attendees during what is expected to be a lively and well-attended event.
Transport Passes and Regulations
Patrons can make use of transport passes on these special routes, promoting ease of travel throughout the festivities. However, there are specific regulations in place to maintain a pleasant experience for everyone. Participants are kindly reminded that food and drinks are prohibited on board, and the usage of bus storage compartments will not be allowed during this period. These measures facilitate a clean and comfortable environment, ensuring the focus remains on celebration.
Encouraging Public Transport Use
By implementing this special transportation service, the Cabildo de Fuerteventura is not only enhancing the accessibility of the festivities but also promoting public transportation. This initiative supports sustainable travel solutions and encourages community members and visitors alike to engage with Fuerteventura’s rich cultural tapestry during this festive season.
As the island prepares for vibrant celebrations, the combination of special transport services and safety measures illustrates a commitment to making the festivities enjoyable for all participants. Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor, getting to El Cotillo to partake in the celebrations has never been easier.
