Fuerteventura en Música 2016: A Festival Experience Like No Other
As the sun sets over the picturesque island of Fuerteventura, music lovers prepare for an exciting weekend at the Fuerteventura en Música (FEM) 2016 festival. This year marks a special occasion not only because of the stellar lineup but also because of the innovative amenities being introduced to enhance the festival-goers’ experience.
Camping at El Cotillo
For the first time, FEM 2016 will feature a camping area at the football stadium in El Cotillo. This addition emphasizes the festival’s commitment to sustainability, a core principle since its inception. Festival organizers are striving to provide essential facilities such as restrooms and showers, alongside unique tech-related offerings that have yet to be disclosed. The camping initiative aims to create an immersive experience for attendees while promoting eco-friendly practices—a welcome step towards aligning the festival with environmental considerations.
Festival Lineup and Schedule
The festival is set to unfold over the weekend of July 1 and 2, kicking off each night at 8 PM. The event was officially introduced during a press conference held at the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, featuring prominent figures like the island’s president, Marcial Morales, cultural counselor Juan Jiménez, and festival director Raúl Rivero. They were joined by representatives from local bands Amakanados, Leche Frita, and Guineo Colectivo, highlighting the festival’s commitment to showcasing local talent.
With a total budget of €160,000, FEM 2016 is set to bring an extraordinary cultural experience. A significant chunk of this funding—€60,000—will go towards covering artistic costs, ensuring that the event has high-quality performances that resonate with the audience.
Headliners: A Not-to-Miss Experience
Among the captivating acts, the standout performance will come from the Mexican band Molotov. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of their iconic album Dónde jugarán las niñas, this performance is expected to draw a massive crowd, solidifying the festival’s reputation as a major cultural highlight in Fuerteventura.
Alongside Molotov, Sargento García, known for blending hip-hop with vibrant Latin rhythms such as salsa, reggae, and raggamuffin, will also be taking center stage. Other remarkable acts include Djarabikan, Conjuro Chamán, La Yegros, Spyrow, and Radio Baifa, each contributing their unique sound to the festival’s dynamic lineup.
A Historic Edition
Raúl Rivero has proclaimed this year’s FEM as an “historical edition,” attributing much of this significance to the participation of Molotov. President Marcial Morales expressed confidence that the venue would be packed, emphasizing the community’s anticipation of the festival.
With the blend of a vibrant musical lineup, a fresh camping experience, and the festival’s dedication to sustainability, the Fuerteventura en Música 2016 promises to be an unforgettable celebration. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this event serves as a cultural beacon, uniting people through the universal language of music.
