More than 1,200 secondary school students in Marbella have participated in a series of educational workshops aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles, thanks to an initiative led by Hospital Quirónsalud Marbella and the Quirónsalud Foundation.
Now in its third year, the ‘Stay Healthy’ programme made its return to the city this spring, offering in-person sessions at three local schools: IES Victoria Kent, CEIP María Auxiliadora II, and IES Sierra Blanca. These workshops, delivered by specialist educators and healthcare professionals, focus on five critical areas: substance abuse, nutrition, sleep hygiene, mental health, and digital wellbeing.
Launched on April 21, the latest series of sessions resumed after the Easter break, continuing to engage students in meaningful discussions about their health. To enhance classroom learning, schools also have access to an online virtual platform, which provides additional, professionally vetted materials for teachers to utilize independently.
Backed by the Quirónsalud Foundation, this initiative is part of a broader effort to engage young people in conversations about how their lifestyle choices can impact their long-term health. The programme presents these important issues using language and formats designed to resonate with teenagers, making the content relatable and engaging.
The workshops are led by specialist educational psychologists, with support from Antonio de Dios, the Head of Psychology at Hospital Quirónsalud Marbella. This expert guidance ensures that the information shared is not only accurate but also tailored to the unique needs of adolescents.
A National Educational Initiative
First launched in 2018, Stay Healthy is a national initiative developed by the Quirónsalud Foundation, which combines scientific rigor with innovative teaching methods and digital tools. The programme aims to promote long-term wellbeing and aligns with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals—specifically Goal 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing) and Goal 4 (Quality Education).
Co-designed with both educators and students, the programme employs a dynamic, collaborative learning model. Since its inception, it has been rolled out across all Spanish provinces, reaching over 1,400 schools and more than 100,000 students through both in-person sessions and its online classroom, which was created during the pandemic.
Quirónsalud stands as the largest private healthcare group in Spain and a significant player in Europe, operating under its parent company, Fresenius-Helios. In Andalucía alone, it runs seven hospitals—including those in Málaga, Marbella, Sevilla, Córdoba, and Huelva—alongside 18 specialist medical centres and a surgical day hospital, making it the region’s leading private healthcare provider.
Across its 180+ medical centres and 57 hospitals, Quirónsalud employs over 50,000 professionals and is renowned for its cutting-edge technology and internationally recognized expertise. Many of its hospitals, such as the Fundación Jiménez Díaz University Hospital and Quirónsalud Madrid, serve as major centres for research and training, often leading the way in fields like oncology, cardiology, and neurology.
As part of its commitment to education and innovation, Quirónsalud continues to invest heavily in scientific research and medical education, with ten of its hospitals holding university status. This dedication not only enhances the quality of care provided but also fosters a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the healthcare sector.
