Promoting Outdoor Sports in La Oliva: New Facilities on the Horizon
The Ayuntamiento de La Oliva is taking significant strides to encourage outdoor physical activity amongst its residents. With the collaborative efforts of the Sports and Parks and Gardens departments, various new sporting facilities are set to be installed across the municipality. These initiatives aim to create more opportunities for residents to engage in sports and recreational activities in public spaces.
New Sporting Equipment: A Mixture of Fun and Fitness
One of the highlights of this new plan includes the introduction of futtoc tables. Futtoc is an exciting blend of football and tennis, designed to engage and entertain players of all ages. This new equipment will allow residents to enjoy a unique game that combines the skills of both sports, enhancing community interaction while promoting fitness.
Additionally, a horizontal climbing wall is set to be erected, providing an adventurous option for outdoor exercise. Climbing activities not only bolster physical strength but also enhance problem-solving skills and build camaraderie amongst participants.
Further enhancing outdoor fitness options, the municipality is investing in a functional outdoor gym. This facility will feature various training equipment, allowing individuals to work on their fitness routines under the open sky. The decision to include such an amenity recognizes the area’s favorable climate, perfect for year-round outdoor activities.
Reviving the Skate Park: A Stronger Future
In response to recent incidents, including the unfortunate destruction of the ramp at the Skate Park in Corralejo, the Ayuntamiento is committed to rebuilding it with more durable materials. The new ramp will be constructed from concrete, enhancing its resilience against future vandalism. This initiative demonstrates the municipality’s dedication to providing safe and enjoyable recreational spaces for skaters and bmx riders alike.
Bicycle Repair Stations: Enhancing Community Mobility
Recognizing the importance of cycling in promoting a sustainable and active lifestyle, the municipal government has also approved the acquisition of five bicibox. These bike repair stations will be strategically located throughout the streets of La Oliva, providing cyclists with access to essential tools and equipment for maintaining their bicycles. This initiative aims to support a cycling culture, making it easier and more convenient for residents to travel on two wheels.
Investment and Commitment to Sports Infrastructure
According to Juan José Rodríguez, the councilor for Economy, Finance, and Parks and Gardens, the total investment for these new facilities amounts to approximately 75,000 euros. This large investment underscores the local government’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and promoting a healthy lifestyle among the community.
The approved plans include not only the construction of the futtoc tables and climbing wall but also the necessary repairs for the shooting range equipment at the Los Jablitos field in Lajares. Several of these projects are set to be implemented in the near future, while others, such as the outdoor gym and skate park repairs, will be addressed in subsequent council meetings.
Continuous Improvement in Sports Facilities
Rafael Benítez, the councilor for Sports Infrastructure, emphasized the importance of these new additions coupled with ongoing efforts to maintain and improve existing facilities. The Ayuntamiento’s commitment to continuous repair and maintenance ensures that sporting environments remain safe, accessible, and inviting for all community members.
By focusing on outdoor sports facilities, La Oliva aims to not only enhance the physical well-being of its residents but also foster a sense of community and collaboration among its citizens. As these projects roll out, they will create attractive and vibrant spaces for people to come together, stay active, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of their municipality.
