If you’re on the hunt for places to eat in Fuerteventura, you’re in for a delicious journey! This guide highlights some of my favorite spots from my trip. Whether you’re looking for budget-friendly options, romantic dining, tapas bars, pizza joints, or cozy breakfast spots—I’ve got you covered.
Traditional Canarian Flavors
Experiencing local cuisine is as vital as visiting the iconic monuments of any travel destination. In Fuerteventura, don’t miss out on traditional dishes like papas arrugás with mojo picón, salt-cooked fish, and the renowned Majorero cheese. Pair these with a volcanic Malvasía wine from the nearby Lanzarote or treat yourself to a barraquito for dessert.
But beyond these traditional offerings, Fuerteventura boasts a wealth of restaurants serving cutting-edge, international cuisines. Let’s dive into my top recommendations:
TantaLuna (Corralejo) – Flavors that Dazzle
TantaLuna is one of the best restaurants in Corralejo, nestled in a delightful alley between the port and the bustling Calle de la Iglesia. Everything we tasted was exquisite, especially the sauté featuring mussels, clams, and razor clams in white wine, along with a sumptuous seafood pasta. The service is additionally commendable, so do make a reservation—it’s highly sought after, especially the cozy corner table!
Rosi (Corralejo) – Perfect for a Beer Break
Rosi, a charming little bar along the waterfront of Corralejo’s old town, is the ideal spot for a homemade cocktail. The views are stunning during the day, making it a lovely pit stop for a drink before or after dinner.
La Paneteca (Lajares) – The Breakfast Champion
If breakfast is your priority, La Paneteca is a must-visit. With an Italian flair, they craft incredible bread fresh every morning. The German-style loaf is particularly outstanding! Their pastries are heavenly too, particularly the pistachio cruffin—a delightful fusion of muffin and croissant.
La Sombra (Betancuria) – Live Music with Veggie Options
Located in the picturesque Betancuria, reputedly Fuerteventura’s most beautiful village, La Sombra is a delight. The venue is lushly decorated with verdant plants, giving it a tropical feel. We only stopped for a beer while enjoying live music, but they offer numerous vegetarian and vegan options.
La Vaca Azul (El Cotillo) – Stunning Views and Exceptional Food
My favorite restaurant in Fuerteventura is La Vaca Azul in the charming village of El Cotillo. Enjoy dining on the terrace, with breathtaking views of the surroundings. Their octopus with green mojo is spectacular, and any fish served “a la espalda” (grilled) is a sure bet! It’s always bustling—there’s a reason for that!
Pizzeria Peperone (Corralejo) – Your Pizza Craving Sorted
With so many Italians visiting Corralejo, pizzerias abound, creating a little slice of Italy in Fuerteventura! Pizzeria Peperone (alongside another spot called Vivi) is among the best. Their pizzas receive high praise from Italian visitors, and they offer great value for your money.
Mis Abuelos Tapas (Morro Jable) – A Traditional Tapas Gem
This authentic bar in Morro Jable is a family-run establishment where the father serves, the daughter waits, and the mother cooks. The tapas here are as comforting as home-cooked meals, made fresh daily. It’s essential to get there early, as the best dishes tend to run out quickly!
D’ Vales Bay (Corralejo) – For a Romantic Dinner
Our trip coincided with Valentine’s Day, leading us to D’ Vales Bay, located right by the beach. This is the ideal venue for a romantic dinner. The panko oysters and artichokes with cheese sauce were knockout dishes, ensuring a memorable evening.
Restaurante Avenida (Corralejo) – Affordable and Popular
If you’re looking for value, Restaurante Avenida is an excellent choice. It’s slightly out of the main tourist areas yet boasts fantastic Google reviews. Known for hefty portions and a warm atmosphere, you’ll find any dish, especially the Majorero cheese with tomato and papas arrugás, to be delightful and filling.
While these are just a handful of the best dining spots in Fuerteventura, don’t forget to grab some Majorero cheese from a local creamerie. We assembled a delightful cheese board during our stay, indulging in Guriamen and Tetir, both certified under the DOP label. Let’s dig in!
