Fuerteventura, once again the backdrop for a major audiovisual production

The Film Commission Highlights the Value of Return

The counselor of Fuerteventura Film Commission, Nereida Calero, emphasized the importance of renowned professionals choosing the island once again for their new projects. “The return of directors like Gonzalo López-Gallego to Fuerteventura is one of the best proofs of the efforts being made to solidify the island as a leading audiovisual destination,” she stated.

Calero further highlighted the economic and social impact that such productions create in the region. “Not only do we boast unique landscapes, but we also have a network of services, professionals, and resources that facilitate production work. When a production company decides to return, it acknowledges a positive experience that generates employment, economic activity, and new opportunities for the local audiovisual sector,” she added.

A Proposal of Great Visual and Narrative Ambition

The upcoming film combines suspense, emotion, and science fiction, showcasing a grand visual and narrative ambition. The volcanic landscapes, the quality of light, and the diversity of natural settings in Fuerteventura are essential to a story that finds one of its primary settings on the island. These specific elements of the unique environment of Fuerteventura become a crucial dramatic and aesthetic ingredient for the film’s visual identity.

After this initial phase developed on the island, filming will continue in other locations across the archipelago and in Asturias, with plans to return to Fuerteventura at the end of summer to complete a significant portion of the production.

A Top-Tier Team Leading the Project

At the helm of the project is Gonzalo López-Gallego, a director, screenwriter, and producer recognized as one of the most prominent voices in contemporary Spanish cinema. The cast is led by Andrés Gertrúdix, one of the most acclaimed and versatile actors in the Spanish audiovisual landscape, boasting an extensive career in film, television, and theater.
