Spain continues to captivate foreign buyers seeking exclusive properties, particularly large homes with five or more bedrooms. According to the Property Registrars, nearly 100,000 properties were acquired by non-Spaniards last year, setting a new record. This surge in interest underscores Spain’s allure as a prime destination for luxury real estate.
The first half of 2025 alone saw around 3,240 homes over 180 m² sold for over €1.05 million, representing just 0.87% of all housing transactions—but highlighting the exclusive nature of Spain’s luxury property market. This trend indicates that while the overall market is vast, the segment catering to high-end buyers is particularly vibrant and competitive.
Prime Locations for Luxury Living
Foreign buyers have a clear preference for established coastal destinations such as Marbella (Málaga), Palma (Balearic Islands), and Jávea (Alicante). These areas not only offer stunning views and a relaxed lifestyle but also boast a range of amenities that appeal to affluent buyers. Additionally, prime districts in major cities like Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia are also highly sought after.
Among the 30 towns that accounted for 25% of foreign searches for five-bedroom homes or more, notable names include Denia, Altea, Moraira, Calpe, Mijas, Benalmádena, Estepona, Santa Eulalia del Río, Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, and Calvià. These locations are characterized by their picturesque landscapes, vibrant communities, and proximity to both leisure and cultural activities.
Spain’s most exclusive areas also attract interest, including Benahavís, Sotogrande, Pozuelo de Alarcón, La Moraleja, and prime city locations in Málaga, Alicante, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and Seville. Each of these areas offers a unique blend of luxury living, privacy, and access to essential services, making them ideal for discerning buyers.
