The XI Jandía Bike, held over the past weekend, was a stunning display of athleticism and community spirit, organized by the Municipality of Pájara in collaboration with various local entities. This impressive event gathered over 250 participants for its eleventh edition. Taking place on April 11 and 12, the competition included two challenging segments: an 8.5-kilometer time trial and a 46-kilometer rally. Known for its rigorous demands, the event attracted cyclists from different clubs across the Canary Islands, showcasing the region’s dedication to the sport.
Sports Councillor José Benito Alonso emphasized the extraordinary effort and resilience displayed by the athletes in this highly demanding competition. Each year, the event surpasses expectations, affirming its status as a prominent fixture in the local sporting calendar. Mayor Alejandro Jorge expressed gratitude to the collaborating organizations for their invaluable contributions, highlighting the significance of such events for positioning Pájara as a cycling hub in the Canary Islands.

The results of the competition brought recognition to some exceptional cyclists. In the men’s category, Marcos Manuel García Ortega, representing the ULEVEL Camping Nauta club, clinched the top position. His performance during both segments showcased his skill and endurance, earning him the prestigious title. For the women’s category, the champion was Yurena Alonso Chinea, hailing from the Club Deportivo Velosa, who dominated both stages with remarkable flair.
The general standings for the first stage in the men’s race saw Héctor Alfaya González from Gran Canaria Bike Team and Simone Butacci from Macebike following closely behind. Their performances added to the competitive spirit of the event and showcased the high caliber of talent present in the race.
