Revitalizing El Islote de Lobos: A Jewel of Nature
El Islote de Lobos, a picturesque uninhabited island located between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, is currently undergoing a significant transformation. The initiative falls under the program ‘Fuerteventura, bonita por naturaleza,’ aimed at enhancing the natural beauty of one of the region’s most cherished gems. The work is focused primarily on the hiking trail that ascends to the island’s highest point, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.
A Scenic Ascent
The trail to the peak of Lobos ascends approximately 350 meters, allowing hikers to experience unique vistas that showcase not just Lobos itself, but also the neighboring island of Lanzarote and the expansive waters between the two islands. This hiking route is not only an emblematic spot for locals—affectionately referred to as majoreros and majoreras—but it also attracts tourists seeking to immerse themselves in the striking natural beauty of the region.
