These conferences are held at the Fuerteventura Training and Congress Palace, under the organization of the COAF, with the sponsorship of the Island Council, through the Territorial Planning area, directed by Nereida Calero and the Puerto del Rosario City Council. Nereida Calero highlights the importance of training that, for three weeks, “will address fundamental topics for interested professionals that are important for their information and improvement.” The mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, has expressed the honor of opening some presentations and practical workshops that promote the exchange of knowledge between professionals and administration technicians, “on the planning instruments that will mark the future of any municipality and any island.” Javier Guitiérrez, treasurer of the College of Architects of Fuerteventura, welcomed the conference, thanking the collaboration of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura and the City Council, as well as the important regional speakers who participated during the conference. The dean of the Official College of Architects, Jorge Arribas, values these days as a relevant opportunity to delve into the technical, legal and environmental foundations of urban planning, as well as the instruments and systems for the execution of planning. Throughout different sessions, key issues related to urban planning, environmental evaluation of plans, administrative procedures and management and execution mechanisms will be addressed from a practical and applied perspective. During this first weekend of conferences, the fundamentals of urban planning will be addressed with the architect doctor, Jesús Álvarez, and the environmental evaluation of the partial plans with Feliciano Tavío, geographer, master of Planning and professor from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC). On the weekend of March 20 and 21, the instruments for the development of urban planning will be analyzed, with sessions led by Mercedes Contreras, secretary of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council and president of ACADUR; and Jesús Luna, technical architect of the Government of the Canary Islands.
