El Cabildo Recognizes Fuerteventura’s Top PAU Students
Recently, the Cabildo of Fuerteventura celebrated the remarkable achievements of two outstanding students, Xiana Cubas Bascoy and Susana Acosta Riobello. Both girls excelled in the Prueba de Acceso a la Universidad (PAU), making waves not only in Fuerteventura but also ranking among the top students in the entire province of Las Palmas.
Honoring Academic Excellence
The celebratory gathering took place at the Cabildo, where prominent figures such as Lola García, the President of the Cabildo; Adargoma Hernández, the Education Counselor; Yurena Pérez, the Insular Director of Education; and David Sánchez, the Vice-Rector of Students at the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), extended their heartfelt congratulations to the young scholars. The event also saw the presence of family members and representatives from both the IES Gran Tarajal and IES Vigán, highlighting the communal pride in their achievements.

Xiana Cubas Bascoy achieved a remarkable score of 9.93 in the general phase of the PAU, while Susana Acosta Riobello closely followed with a score of 9.90. These impressive results positioned them among the best of the year in the entrance examinations for the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, underscoring their hard work and academic prowess.
Lola García emphasized the importance of recognizing such talents, stating, “These girls are not just an inspiration to their peers but also to the entire community.” Both Xiana and Susana expressed gratitude for the support they received, acknowledging the crucial roles their families and educational institutions played in their success.
Future Aspirations

Susana Acosta has her sights set on studying Physics at either the Universidad de La Laguna or the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. Meanwhile, Xiana Cubas hopes to pursue a degree in Music Production in Madrid. With dreams of intertwining creativity and technology, she looks forward to stepping into an industry that resonates with her passion for music.
