Last night, the Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing, and Food Sovereignty Counselor of the Canary Islands Government, Narvay Quintero, attended the award gala of the International CINVE 2026 Competition, held at the InterContinental Hotel in Madrid. In its 22nd edition, agricultural and food products from the Canary Islands received a remarkable total of 61 awards, including three Grand Cinves—the highest honor of the competition—marking a significant 48.78% increase compared to the previous edition.
The majorera productions, in particular, achieved notable accolades. From Tetir, Bodega Gavias El Sordo secured three Grand Gold Medals for its Papaíno Malvasía Volcánica 2025, Papaíno Brut Nature 2024, and Papaíno Brut Nature 2024. Meanwhile, Bodegas Conatvs, located in Lajares, earned four Gold Medals for Conatvs Airam 2025, Conatvs Baboso Negro 2025, Conatvs Tinto 2025, and Conatvs Pink 2025.
The Grand Cinve winners included Alejandro Gallo’s Vijariego Negro and Tintilla 2023 from Gallo & Quíquere Wines Tenerife in the category of still red wines; Brumas de Ayosa Blanco Seco 2025, from SAT Viticultores Comarca de Güímar, in still white wines; and Brumas de Ayosa 100% Malvasía Aromática 2023, also from the same winery, in sparkling wines.
Of the total awards, 56 were attributed to wine products, complemented by accolades for two spirits, a vermouth, a cider, and an oil. Collectively, the Canary Islands garnered three Grand Cinves, 21 Grand Golds, 29 Golds, and 8 Silver awards.
During the ceremony, the counselor, joined by CINVE president María Guirau and CERVIM vice president Manuel Capote, presented several awards and emphasized that “the presence of Canary Island samples in a renowned international competition reaffirms the excellence of our agri-food productions and bolsters their recognition both within and outside the archipelago.”
He also noted that “achieving this number of accolades places us as the third most awarded community, representing a significant milestone for the Canary Islands on an international stage.” This reinforces the commitment to quality, the efforts of producers, and the collective strength of a sector that has evolved through collaboration among professionals, technical services, and administration.
Quintero highlighted that these distinctions carry added merit, as they recognize the work carried out in a fragmented territory affected by remoteness and insularity but capable of transforming these challenges into products of excellence, uniquely characterized and seamlessly balanced between tradition, innovation, and a connection to the land.
The CINVE competition, organized by Inversiones Sobrecases (INSOCferial), has a 22-year history and has established itself internationally in the wine sector. Notably, it promotes excellence, innovation, and the international projection of quality products, creating a platform for tradition, talent, and cutting-edge perspectives with tasters, sommeliers, journalists, and industry professionals spanning over 40 countries.
