Fuerteventura Tourism Board Executes Over 97% of Its Budget in 2025

Fuerteventura’s Tourism Board Achieves Significant Milestones in 2025

The Patronato de Turismo de Fuerteventura has wrapped up the 2025 fiscal year with an impressive budget execution rate of 97.41%. This achievement, highlighted in the Management Report presented recently, is seen as a testament to the organization’s commitment to a tourism promotion strategy that prioritizes both local returns and international positioning of the island as a prime tourist destination.

Focus on Promotional Strategies

A large portion of the budget was earmarked for promotional efforts beyond the island’s shores. The aim was clear: to support events and local organizations that leave a significant mark on tourism in Fuerteventura. Through these initiatives, the Patronato aims to stimulate direct economic activity within the island’s economy, creating a vibrant business environment that benefits local communities.

Leadership Praise and Sustainable Tourism

Lola García, the President of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, expressed her satisfaction with the year’s results. She emphasized the Patronato’s focus on strengthening an innovative and sustainable tourism model. This approach prioritizes the enhancement of existing offerings over new developments, ensuring that the benefits of the tourism sector flow back into the local economy. Her vision reflects a commitment to sustainable growth that considers the needs and prosperity of the island’s residents.

Budget Execution: A Key to Economic Dynamism

Marlene Figueroa, the Tourism Councillor, highlighted the strategic importance of executing the budget effectively. She underscored that a well-managed budget not only energizes the tourism sector but also circulates investments among local providers and economies, thereby supporting the island’s overall economic landscape. This prioritization is crucial for maintaining a robust and thriving tourism industry.

Engaging International Markets

Throughout the year, Fuerteventura actively engaged in nearly thirty promotional events abroad, including trade fairs, professional forums, and commercial meetings. The strategic focus encompassed key cities like Oviedo, Barcelona, and Madrid in Spain, as well as vital international markets such as Berlin, London, and Stockholm. By participating in these events, Fuerteventura was able to showcase its unique offerings, utilizing its own stand or acting as a sole host to enhance its visibility and coordination with local tourism agents.

Inviting Influencers and Media

The Patronato also backed about ten ‘fam trips’ and ‘press trips’, inviting tourist operators, travel media, and influencers from various countries, including the United States and Germany. These visits were designed to allow professionals to experience Fuerteventura’s attractions firsthand, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of what the island has to offer. This strategy not only promotes the destination but also builds relationships within the travel industry.

Supporting Local Events

In addition to promotional activities, the Patronato financially supported around fifteen local events with significant external relevance. Notable mentions include the International Kite Festival of Corralejo, the Grand Tarajal Deep-Sea Fishing Open, and the World Windsurf & Wingfoil Championship. By backing these events, the Patronato not only enhances Fuerteventura’s cultural scene but also helps establish its reputation as a hub for high-quality entertainment and sporting excellence.

A Vision for Balanced Economic Impact

All these actions reflect the Patronato’s strategic roadmap, which centers on generating visibility, attracting high-quality tourism, and fostering a more balanced distribution of the economic impacts of tourism across the island. By prioritizing these objectives, they aim to ensure that the benefits of tourism extend beyond just the industry but also impact broader community aspects, providing a sustainable path for Fuerteventura’s future.
