Major Road Improvements in Fuerteventura: A Step Towards Safer Travel
The Cabildo de Fuerteventura is currently making significant strides in enhancing road safety and driving comfort across the island. Recent announcements detail a series of road improvement projects aimed at upgrading key routes, which are essential for both local residents and visitors alike.
Upgrading the FV-220: A Safer Route to La Asomada
One of the central projects involves the renovation of the FV-220, the main road leading to the village of La Asomada. The initiative, executed by Crispal Islas SL, has been allocated a budget of €96,875, with an expected completion time of one month. Improvements include cleaning roadside margins, resurfacing asphalt, and updating the road signage—all vital for enhancing safety and ensuring a smooth driving experience.
Revamping the FV-30: Connecting Puerto del Rosario and Betancuria
Another crucial segment undergoing transformation is the FV-30, particularly the areas between Casillas del Ángel and the roundabout leading to Tefía, as well as between Llanos de la Concepción and Valle de Santa Inés. This segment is managed by Obras Públicas Canarias SL, with a more substantial budget of €421,399 and a two-month timeline for completion. These enhancements will foster better connectivity between the municipalities of Puerto del Rosario and Betancuria, promoting ease of travel for both residents and tourists.
A New Focus on FV-207: Enhancing Access to Tefía
Forthcoming plans include improvements to the FV-207, which connects the FV-10 with the FV-30. Encompassing a distance of seven kilometers leading to the village of Tefía, this project will also be undertaken by Crispal Islas SL. With a budget set at €533,891 and a two-month execution period, this initiative is another indicator of the Cabildo’s commitment to improving the island’s roadway infrastructure.
Enhancing FV-214: Entry to Guisguey
In addition, the FV-214, located at the entrance of Guisguey in Puerto del Rosario, will see substantial upgrades. This project will be executed by Tecnología de la Construcción y Obras Públicas, with an execution timeframe of four months and a budget of €589,245. These efforts aim to bolster road safety, enhance accessibility, and ensure the reliability of travel routes in this vital area.
Modernizing the FV-10: Expanding Safety and Comfort
Upcoming work on two segments of the FV-10 is also on the horizon, focusing on improving the road from Tindaya to El Cotillo, and from the La Oliva Cemetery to Corralejo. Conducted by Obras Públicas Canarias SL, this project entails a budget of €495,151 and a projected completion within two months. These upgrades are essential for maintaining safe and efficient travel on one of the island’s busiest routes.
Projects on FV-101: Reviving Local Travel
Simultaneously, work is set to commence on the FV-101, particularly in the crossing areas of La Oliva and Villaverde, as well as from the Casilla de Costa urbanization to the highway access. Crispal Islas SL will handle this project, which is budgeted at €255,929 with expectations of completion in two months. These upgrades will not only improve road conditions but will also enhance travel experiences for everyone in the region.
Commitment from Local Leadership
According to Marcial Morales, the President of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, these developments reflect ongoing efforts to keep the island’s roads in impeccable condition for vehicle transit. Insular Roads Councillor Edilia Pérez reinforces this notion by highlighting that these initiatives will result in “more modern, navigable, and comfortable roads for users.” Through these substantial investments, Fuerteventura is paving the way for safer and more enjoyable travel experiences for all.
