Seven new residents begin their period of specialized health training in Medicine and Family and Community Nursing in Fuerteventura The Health Services Management of Fuerteventura, attached to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, has welcomed seven new residents who begin their period of specialized health training in Medicine and Family and Community Nursing in the health centers and in the General Hospital of Fuerteventura. These are five doctors and two nurses, who were received this Friday, June 5, in the hospital’s assembly hall, in a meeting that was attended by the manager of Health Services, Alejandro Miguens, the director of Management and Services, Agustín Díaz, and the head of studies of the Multiprofessional Teaching Unit for Family and Community Care of Fuerteventura, Encarnación Duque. Currently, the Management welcomes a total of 25 residents in training: twenty-one doctors and four nurses. The residency lasts four years in Family and Community Medicine and two years in Nursing. In both cases, the training program combines theoretical and practical activities, as well as care and research work. Also present at this welcome event were the medical and nursing directors of Hospital Care, Luis Eduardo Bravo and María Soledad Iglesias, respectively, the medical coordinator of Primary Care, Leila Esmeralda Reyes, and the president of the Nursing subcommittee, Aída Troya.
